ABSTRACT
Premature rupture of membranes (PRM) is one of the high-risk pregnancies, because the longer the PRM will increase the risk of morbidity in the baby. This study aims to determine the relationship between the incidence of premature rupture of membranes with the APGAR Score in newborns. This type of research is correlational with a prospective time approach. The population of this study were all pregnant women with premature rupture of membranes who were treated at VK Maternity RSU Haji Surabaya with a sample size of 12 clients selected by accidental sampling technique. The variables of this study were the incidence of premature rupture of membranes and the APGAR Score in newborns. This study uses medical record instruments and sheets. Descriptive research analysis for characteristic data and Analysis of the relationship between the two variables using the Fisher Exact Test. The results showed that 6 pregnant women experienced PRM <12 hours and 6 clients >12 hours; 9 newborns had good APGAR scores and infants had poor scores. There is no relationship between the duration of premature rupture of membranes with the APGAR Score. It is hoped that health workers will be more intense in providing HE regarding the prevention and handling of PROM every time Antenatal Care (ANC).
