ABSTRACT

Pulmonary tuberculosis is a dangerous infectious disease that is still a health problem in Indonesia and in the world because of the easy way of transmission of the disease. The success of the pulmonary TB disease control program is determined by the compliance behavior of taking complete medication until completion for each patient with pulmonary TB. Attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioral control influence the formation of one's behavior based on Theory Of Planned Behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the compliance behavior of taking medication in patients with pulmonary TB. This research is descriptive research. The population in this study were 150 pulmonary TB patients at the Banyu Urip Community Health Center in Surabaya city with a sample size of 44 patients selected by accidental sampling. The variable in this study was the compliance behavior of taking pulmonary TB medication. The research data were collected through questionnaires distributed to the research sample. Data analysis using descriptive test. The results showed that almost all (90.9%) pulmonary TB patients were compliant in taking medication, had a good attitude (81.8%), had good subjective norms (90.9%) and had good behavioral control (86.4%) in drug compliance. The research suggestion is that pulmonary TB patients are expected to maintain the behavior of adherence to taking medication that has been carried out routinely until recovery is achieved and increase the compliance rate of pulmonary TB patients in the treatment process.
